Why is Shares for Good good for shareholders? Many people have small shareholdings that are more bother than they are worth, keeping or selling. Shares for Good provides shareholders with a genuine avenue to divest shareholdings free of brokerage and potentially receive a tax credit. It also allows them to generate community value from what may well be an idle asset, particularly small parcels of shares.
Shares for Good is a pro-bono collaboration between JBWere, NZX, Computershare and Link Market Services. 100% of proceeds from the sale of your shares goes directly to the recipient charity.
You can choose to receive a tax receipt for any donation you make through Shares for Good and if it's a personal donation you may be able to claim a tax credit for the value of shares donated.
About Shares for Good
Shares for Good provide a cost free and simple way for investors to donate share parcels of any size via an online donation form.
Shares for Good accepts share donations of all sizes, no matter how small, that are then sold and 100% of the cash value is donated to a New Zealand charity. Statistics from Computershare and Link Market Services show there is more than 135,000 share parcels in New Zealand with a value less than $500. Small parcels of shares are often ignored by investors, providing little more than an administrative headache or extra lines in a tax return - imagine the value these shares could have when combined, collectively the sum would make a real difference to New Zealand charities.
