Phil Borkin
Head of Investment Strategy & Research
Phil joined JBWere in 2019 and leads our Investment Strategy and Research team, overseeing the development of investment insights, market views, and portfolio strategy for clients. He brings deep experience in macroeconomics and market strategy, having previously worked as a Senior Macro Strategist at ANZ and as a New Zealand Economist for Goldman Sachs in both Auckland and Sydney. Phil has a particular interest in economic cycles and how they influence markets, investment opportunities, and long-term returns.
Phil holds a conjoint Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science, along with a First-Class Honours degree in Economics from the University of Auckland. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his three young children and unwinding with American sports, particularly baseball, accompanied by a good craft beer.
