Matthew works in collaboration with JBWere Advisers, supporting for-purpose organisations, and private clients. Providing specialist advice on governance, impact strategy, responsible investing, capital deployment, and stewardship of philanthropic wealth. He facilitates collaborations among funders and for-purpose entities.
As a former Chief Executive of Surf Life Saving Northern Region, Matthew led the organisation through significant transformation in governance, funding, and sector collaboration. Over the past 15 years, he has advised iwi, philanthropic trusts, Crown entities, private families, and global organisations on aligning capital, governance, and purpose in complex environments.
Matthew serves as Chair, director, and trustee for several for-purpose entities. He has contributed to legislative change within the philanthropic sector and authored reports for the Centre for Social Impact on sustainable funding and impact. Matthew has also played a key role in sector-wide initiatives focussed on governance and funding, as well as being actively involved in shaping responses to intergenerational wealth transfer and strengthening community resilience across Aotearoa New Zealand.
