John Morrow
Head of Philanthropic Services & Family Advisory
John joined JBWere's Philanthropic Services Team in January 2020. He designs and executes giving strategies and impact in investments, providing tailored insights from research and best practices. With a background as a former banker and lawyer, he has worked with charities, as well as diverse boards, organisations and individuals in the wider for-purpose sector for 25 years, on their sustainability journeys and in contributing towards positive social and environmental impact.
His work in the sector includes Head of Micro-Enterprise Development at World Vision New Zealand and his expertise includes advising on for-purpose governance, impact strategy, and the establishment and structure of significant fundraising and granting foundations. His work also involves advising multi-generational families in their decision making together.
John holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from University of Canterbury, NZ, and a Masters of Arts from Regent College, CA.
John has for-purpose governance experience and recently completed the Australian Governance for Social Impact course (CSI-UNSW). At JBWere John is the co-author of the NZ Cause Report, the inaugural NZ Corporate Support Report, and has contributed to the NZ Bequest Report 2025.
