David Pretorius
Wealth Management Adviser
David is an experienced investment adviser with extensive expertise across all major asset classes. Working alongside Kate Skeggs and Anna Boland, he provides discretionary portfolio management and investment advisory services to a diverse range of private clients.
Born and raised in South Africa, David began his investment management career in Cape Town in 1997 before founding Flagship Asset Management, a boutique private client advisory firm.
After relocating to New Zealand in 2004, he held senior roles with 36South Investment Managers, BNZ Private Bank, and Macquarie Private Wealth. He joined JBWere (formerly Jarden Wealth) in 2011 and has since built a reputation for delivering disciplined, client-focused investment advice.
David served as Chair of the CatWalk Spinal Cord Injury Trust for 12 years, stepping down in December 2025. During his tenure, he completed the New York Marathon five times in five consecutive years—including once on crutches—to raise funds and awareness for the Trust’s pioneering work. Over this period, the CatWalk team raised over $1m from across the globe. He remains a passionate long-distance runner and continues to pursue marathon running.
David holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is a CFA Charterholder, an NZX Adviser, and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
